Back from the Dead

After 6 days without a run, I feel physically well enough to head out in the cold and wind of early March (January through MArch are the worst weather months in Baltimore: temps in the 40's with wind every damn day creating a nice 10 degree wind chill effect). My nagging cough is as good as it's going to get and I don't feel sick any more. However, I feel horribly lethargic thanks to the inactivity, which is alarming. I need to get back on the roads and in the gym.

To that end, I'll be going to the gym this evening to run 4 miles, even if it kills me. I want to hit 10 miles tomorrow, which I know is a lofty goal after a week off and two weeks without a long run. But hey, I'm 26 so I can beat my body up a little bit more than if I were a decade older.

My plan for next week will be to rest on Sunday and then get 5 miles in on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday of next week. I'm taking next Friday off, so I will use that day for an 11 miler in the morning. Saturday will be a rest day followed by Sunday's Shamrock 5K in downtown Baltimore. That will net me 29 miles for the week. I HAVE to get some quality miles in the next three weeks to get my body back for the National Half. I'm not so much worried about not making it 13.1 miles, but I'd like to do it in a half decent amount of time.

And with that, I am going to prepare to get out of the office and get to the gym. Annie is in DC per usual, so I'm not on any particular schedule this evening.
