Flexible and Adaptable

That’s the motto of the company I work for and the theme of this week’s training. I forgot how much of a shift your body goes through when it has to start waking up a good deal earlier than it’s used to. I think it takes about 2 weeks to adjust to the point where you don’t feel like you’re going to vomit when you wake up in the morning.

That is how I felt on Wednesday morning and this morning. I just felt awful and it’s my own fault. I need to make myself go to bed earlier (10:30 instead of 11:30) so I can get enough sleep each night. I’m stubborn when it comes to going to bed, as I feel that I can stay up for another hour and get some more things done. However, that extra hour of sleep would do wonders over the course of a month or so. Plus, I’m tired and ready for bed by 10:30 and make myself stay awake later, which is dumb. I think if I start getting to sleep earlier, waking up earlier will become not so horrible.

As a result of this, I will be getting up tomorrow morning (7 or 8 ish) to do my 3-mile run that was supposed to happen today and then doing my usual long run on Sunday morning. In fact, I think I will do 4 miles tomorrow as punishment to myself for slacking off. I am going to try to use this weekend to start being more responsible about my sleep schedule so when next Tuesday rolls around and that alarm goes off around 5:30, I won’t want to die.
